Spring carnival is rocking in Melbourne with recent win of Japanese Admire Rakti in Caulfield cup and now everyone is looking forward to the Cup Weekend.
Since 1861, Melbourne cup is considered Australia’s Major Horse race which stops the nation around 3 PM. It was originally Australian thing however now lot of international horses have started taking part with the fact that very attractive prize money is being offered.
The cup event is one of the most popular spectator events in Australia, with sometimes over 110,000 people, some dressed in traditional formal race day wear and others in all manner of exotic and amusing costumes, attending the race. Off the track, there are many things to talk about such as fashions on the field with elegant hats and fascinators for ladies. Flowers, especially roses are also an important component of the week’s racing at Flemington. The racecourse has around 12,000 roses within its large expanse. Over 200 varieties of the fragrant flower are nurtured by a team of up to 12 gardeners.
