One delightful perk of the lush and established gardens at the Buckingham are the unexpected guests they attract.
Although the resident flowering gum is quite a handsome tree it did strike us as odd that so many guests would pause to take pictures and point and gasp.
Upon further investigation we discovered a local flock of Rainbow Lorikeets making a meal of the sweet nectar-y flowers of our gum trees.

The Rainbow Lorikeet is a native bird indigenous to eastern forested and wooded areas.

Pretty special to have so many visiting us and not something you’d see in the middle of the city!
